Theatrical Releases: Tosca

Directed by Benoit Jacquot

Official Selection - Venice Film Festival 2002Official Selection - Toronto International Film Festival 2002

One of Giacomo Puccini's greatest operas has been magically transposed to film in this stirring and wonderfully performed production featuring Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna as the star-crossed lovers. They are joined by the incomparable Ruggero Raimondi who plays the evil Scarpia.

Benoit Jacquot reinvents the way we view opera in this magnificent production of Puccini's story of Tosca's love for the painter Cavaradossi and the intervention of Scarpia. Tosca is dazzlingly beautiful yet intimate and emotional, modern yet classic at the same time.

Tosca has proven to be a "must-see" film for both opera aficionados as well as the previously uninitiated.

Starring Angela Gheorghiu, Roberto Alagna and Ruggero Raimondi.
